Wasp like Fly - Physocephala furcillata

Wasp like Fly - Physocephala furcillata
Grantsburg, Burnett County, Wisconsin, USA
August 6, 2009
Area is brush prairie and wetland. This guy was low to ground (around 1 foot) and moved slowly perching on Sweet Fern and wide grasses. Thorax deep like a dragonfly, very blocky or rectangular, picture doesnt convey that well. Other pics if needed. Was looking at Syrphid Flies - Subfamily Syrphinae - Tribe Syrphini - Genus Pseudodoros but the eyes are way different. Thanks for any help
