Ladybird Beetle - Brachiacantha decempustulata - female

Ladybird Beetle - Brachiacantha decempustulata - Female
Cross Plains, Dane County, Wisconsin, USA
August 6, 2009
Size: 2.6mm
Found another one of these beetles and this time I think I managed to get a better shot of the pro-tibia. Hope this helps in ID. It was not a very cooperative subject. This is in reference to . Current photo taken in sunlight accounts for color difference.

Brachiacantha decempustulata
Great shot of the spine/peg on the protiba. So it's definitely Brachiacantha. The pronotum coloration says this is a female (as is your other one). And based on the spot size appearing smaller than normal (given that females generally have larger spots than males), I'd say we can call this one B. decempustulata, along with your other one. If you get a chance, please try for a perpendicular dorsal shot, as there are a couple of round Brachiacantha and a couple of oval ones. B. decempustulata should be one of the oval ones.
