Great blue skimmer - Libellula vibrans - male

Great blue skimmer - Libellula vibrans - Male
Houston, Texas, USA
August 7, 2009
Found nearly dead in a suburban area. Taken back for photos. Pretty sure this is a great blue - I'll frass after confirmation, enough photos already.

Your ID
is probably correct.

It would be nice to be able to see the turquoise eye color and white face of the Great Blue to
absolutely clinch it though.
However it is probably NOT a Bar-Winged Skimmer just judging by the abdomen color and the wing markings.

Thanks
Definitely does have turquoise eyes and a white face (got lots of eye close-ups). Good to know all the field marks (I got it from the wing markings on pictures here).
