A Different Click Beetle - Conoderus

A Different Click Beetle - Conoderus
Irvine, Orange County, California, USA
August 3, 2009
The is the less common of two similarly sized click beetles I find around here at night. I usually find several dozen of the blacker individuals with yellowish hair for every one of these I find with these red markings on the abdomen.

Recently received a series of this species from CA. It is not keying out in Van Dyke's 1932 treatment, so do not have a species name at the moment.
