Tan variation - Phidippus otiosus - Female

I found this female along with a few dozen others in overwinter sacs in a stack of corrugated steel in the mountains of Tennessee. All of the females were very similar to this one. They all had the carapace markings, which led to it being misidentified as P. mystaceus. It's very common for individuals of this species outside of Florida to have the three markings on the top of the carapace similar to P. mystaceus. This female was approximately 12mm in body length.

This female was originally misidentified, which has led to many other misidentifications. All of those images have been moved to the P. otiosus page.

P. otiosus (edit)
This tan variation is smaller and less colorful than the P. otiosus that is found in FL.
