I had no idea I could find Tiger beetles in my neighborhood! I'm guessing those spots on the back will help with an ID.

Yes.
Cicindela punctulata, the "sidewalk tiger beetle." A common, but very cryptic species.

Yet another example of a bug that I have probably encountered hundreds of times, but never took the time to really try to get a good look at it. The way it flew off from the dirt, I assumed it was a fly!
