Perilampid

Perilampid
Empress ( a small town in the prairies right on the Saskatchewan border), Alberta, Canada
August 12, 2005
Size: About 3 mm
I just happened to notice when I was sitting at the side of a dirt road trying to take grasshopper photos. Is there anyone out there familiar enough with Perilampids to put a genus or species name to this? I'm guessing that it probably needs keying out.

What a beauty!!! Love those colours. Very nice photo. Thanks for submitting this onto this site.

Fantastic!
This may be the best shot I have ever seen of a perilampid. You are correct, they have to be keyed out. Dr. Eric Grissell did mine, but only to genus. I think the family Perilampidae has been abolished, and the critters lumped with Torymidae?

Thanks Eric. I am quite pleas
Thanks Eric. I am quite pleased with this shot myself. It was taken with a little Konica Minolta Dimage Z3, which is a pure digital camera. I also use a Pentax SLR digital, and I know this may sound like heresy to most people, but on the whole I seem to be getting better photos with the pure digital camera. Thanks for the information on the family change.
