Newly-molted European earwig - Forficula auricularia - male

Newly-molted European earwig - Forficula auricularia - Male
Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, USA
April 14, 2009
Albino-looking earwig scurrying (thus, the image focus) along trunk of a Red Maple. (Text and title corrected after more information presented)[as time and ability present, I'll try to improve and subsequently resubmit this image. At this point, it seems somewhat unique in the guide.]

Not albino!
This is simply an earwig that just molted to adulthood, hence the pigments have not yet set. There are no albino insects.

Very good, then
I wasn't sure. Didn't consider molting. T'was the first like this I had seen. Thank you, Eric.
