This has been identified as an Oriental Beetle, Anomala orientalis. It is NOT a Shining Leaf Chafer (Rutelinae).

looks like the Oriental Beetle, Anomala orientalis
To me at any rate. :) I do see how some Anomala, shining leaf chafers, look similar as well.

Thank you, Andy. I agree. When I compare the photos, I can see that while similar, they are, in fact, distinct. Fun!
