Transverse Flower Fly "Eristalis transversa" - Eristalis transversa - Female

Size: approximately 1 cm
Closest I came was a Yellowjacket Fly as depicted on your site by a photo taken in North Carolina. This insect was frequenting the Echinacea over the last several days.
