Deer fly? Bee fly? - Chrysanthrax cypris

Deer fly? Bee fly? - Chrysanthrax cypris
Boca Raton, Palm Beach County, Florida, USA
August 11, 2009
Size: 3/4"
I've seen this fly in "natural areas" like Fern Forest (Broward County) and at my house, which does have a lot of native plants. Hangs out on my lawn, though.

Bee fly
If you move your post to Bee Flies, there's a good chance you'll get an expert ID on this one. Might be Paravilla, but I'm not good with eastern species and respect the awesome variety of insects you have in Florida.

RE: Bee fly
I've tried to put this in the top level of bee flies (http://bugguide.net/node/view/185/bgpage ), but had no luck. I tagged the image, but never found the "move image" link. Can you help explain how to move this? Thanks in advance.
