Male Hobo? - Tegenaria agrestis -

I know nobody will positively ID this boy without seeing the spider under a microscope... I suspect what it is and am dealing with a member of my local extention office... but I finally found a male, after sooo many females. He isn't very big, compared to some of the boys I've seen, and certainly not compared to his "lady" friends. But I wanted to share the pictures anyway. I found him mid morning, with a funnel web attached near the bottom of one of my flowerpots under some allysum (spell)? I have.

These are some fanastic pictures! Thank you for sharing! (If you have some more good images, please feel free to post them.) This guy looks like he is definitely ready to find his "lady love" (his pedipalps are very swollen).

If you do get confirmation, please let us know so we catalog them. Most people have no clue about what they really look like, and your images will be a big help in showing what a (confirmed) hobo looks like (especially since the images are clear and very well-taken).

I have tentatively moved them to the Tegenaria genus page.

Positive ID for Hobo

Hi Christopher, I wanted to let you know that I got a positive ID on the suspected Hobo male and female. He even showed me under the microscope, that double prong on the pedipalps wasn't shown in my photos, and he wanted a closer look at her atrium. Thanks again!
