I think...
Looking at the spots on those upper wings, I think that it's a Red-spotted Purple (Limentis arthenis).

Thank you. I'm a novice with butterflies, so I have to flip through lots of pictures to try to make IDs, but one misses a lot that way. The Audubon picture of the red-spotted purple doesn't have the spots in the corners, but if you go to the text, it says, "Eastern populations have some red in FW tips above." So there you go! Nice call, thanks again.
