Size: 1/2 inch approximately
This pic is a little overexposed I hope it does not hamper an ID. This insect looks so much like one I have posted previously, although this one looks more like a wasp. (The previous one was a fly)

Yellowjacket.
Yes, this is a wasp, one of the yellowjackets in the genus Vespula. Difficult angle to get an ID beyond that.
