Black Beetle - Epicauta funebris

Black Beetle - Epicauta funebris
Near Hagerstown, Washington County, Maryland, USA
August 12, 2009
Size: Around 1 1/2"
There were many of these beetles(?) feeding and mating on specific flowering plants (...tall-stemmed with yellow flowers).
I've been un-successful in identifying this bug or its host plant.
Please help.

looks like Margined Blister Beetle, Epicauta funebris
Unless.... there's another one with this general appearance. I've learned that Epicauta can be tough IDs.

Thanks for the ID
