Carabid - Calosoma protractum - male

Carabid - Calosoma protractum - Male
Mt. Graham, Graham County, Arizona, USA
August 5, 2009
Size: 24.5mm

nice addition, gentlemen
Moved from Calosoma.

Calosoma protractum
based on my microscopic examination of this male specimen. Known range is AZ, CO. Type image here. Note characteristic fine uniform punctures along barely visible striae on elytra; evenly rounded pronotum. I measured apparent body length to be 24.5 mm which is diagnostically important (in part) for separating similar but larger C. macrum known in AR, LA, TX.

Moved
Moved from Ground Beetles.

male Calosoma with badly deformed left mesofemur
nice one
