Third instar, shortly before molting.
This head-on photo shows the narrow orange triangle on the center of the "face." It distinguishes C. maculata larvae similar species that have a wider orange triangle or entirely orange "face." The distinctive orange semicircles on the first thoracic segment are also visible.
