The western has much different colors

Right idea, wrong species.
This is a male Sphecius convallis. The yellow markings on the abdomen are generally quite reduced in that species. Great shot!

 
darn..
Didn't realize there was yet another orange and yellow one. Next time I'll stop at Sphecius - not eastern :)
