Thanks! I thought maybe I was being overly optimistic, submitting a photo that doesn't show the whole abdomen.

 
Toxomerus is very easy for me.
One section of the pattern is enough in this case. (I look for what I call a "keyhole" on T. geminatus. It's a slight bit more complicated than that, but tough to verbalize.)

While I haven't completely worked this through, I think T. marginatus can be IDed by a single spot near the tail end of the abdomen.

OTHO, syrphids also include what I call "evil pairs" that can be impossible to separate from photos. Archtypical of these are Eupeodes and Syrphus in Tribe Syrphini.
