Size: 8 mm
Need ID help. Found another individual (see thumb) feeding upon a midge (not pollen). Attracted to light at cottage near seaweed. Photo is a Helicon Stack of 5 images to get the depth of focus. Please tell me the sex too if you are able.

This is male. The tip of the abdomen is folded under instead of formed into a retractible ovipositor.

This is probably one of the dung flies in the Scathophagidae (aka Scatophagidae), or a closely-related family. Great shot!
