Squash Bug - Piezogaster calcarator - male

Squash Bug - Piezogaster calcarator - Male
Stafford, Stafford County, Virginia, USA

No.
I don't think that is what you have here. I believe this is a male of a species formerly placed in the genus Archimerus (I am still using Slater and Baranowski, but the genus Archimerus has since been abolished). The kink in the hind tibia is a character not applicable to males of Euthochtha.

No
Thank you for the correction. Sorry. I should have noticed that. Is it of any use to the guide?

Yes!
This is a fantastic shot of Piezogaster calcarata! I am informed that this is just an "interim" name for this species that is defying classification. Nice addition to Bugguide!

Eric, can you take a look at other images
that I have mopved to this section? They appear to be the same species as this one. However, the Key to Florida Coreids says P. calcarata lacks the alternating colors on the connexivivum shown by P. alternatus - are these all actually P. alternatus, then?
