It looks like -from what I can see-similar to Dolomedes_tenebrosus or something in that family. Looks like about the right size. It could be another member of that family.

Thanks for the reply. I agree -- we live near a small river and this "little" lady may have wandered as a result of Hurricane Ophelia. She is pretty white and was a bit aggressive when we accidentally disturbed her. Could it be a Dolomedes scriptus? Thanks again!

Definitely a fishing spider in the genus Dolomedes; and a female carrying her egg sac! Neat:-) Thanks for sharing.
