Ackworth, Warren County, Iowa, USA

Size: ~9 mm
Large, hairy fly found on window inside rural home (flew in while windows were open during replacement). Abdomen hairy and transversely banded with gray and black stripes.

Blow fly
Blow fly in the family Calliphoridae, and most likely the genus Calliphora, sometimes known as "bluebottles."
