Five-banded Tiphiid Wasp? - Myzinum - Male
Bellevue, NE, Sarpy County, Nebraska, USA

Size: approximately 1 1/4"
This wasp was photographed on goldenrod at Fontenelle Forest in Bellevue, NE. Could this be a male Five-banded Tiphiid Wasp (Myzinum quinquecinctum)?

Thanks,

Perhaps:-)
Wasps in general are problematic. Without the specimen itself, anyone would be hard-pressed to get anything more specific than "male Myzinum sp." Nice image showing the "psuedostinger."
