Syrphid Fly - Copestylum barei - female

Syrphid Fly - Copestylum barei - Female

It reminds me Rhingia, but the ones in the guide all have yellow bands on the back. This one had a short, wedge shaped abdomen that was a solid greenish just like the thorax.

No, this is a female Copestylum sp.
Hello Tom,
And when the thorax and abdomen are solid greenish without any pale parts, it could very well be Copestylum barei!
Greetings,
Gerard Pennards

Copestylum barei
Good thing you are there identifying the flies for Bugguide. Without you and Paul, I know I wouldn't take as many fly pictures. Thanks Gerard.
