On Milkweed, Asclepias sp.

Looks like other photos of this species. Also, Milkweed seems to be a preferred food source, judging from the other photos.

As John Himmelman states, "My wife grows squash every year, but they're free of these moths. I secretly hope for a couple of them and would be more than happy to replace any lost vegetables with a trip to the grocery store."

 
Beauty vs. Squash
I think it's a beautiful moth. I'm happy to let their young feast on summer squash, which I loathe. But don't touch my hard winter squashes!

 
I have it good
Our neighbors have squash in which Squash Vine Borers destroy, and they are attracted to our flowers. So I get the moth's beauty for free:)
