Plant Hopper nursery - Acanalonia conica - female

Plant Hopper nursery - Acanalonia conica - Female
Lexington, Fayette County, Kentucky, USA
August 21, 2009
Size: < 1 cm
Appears to be a Planthopper Acanalonia conica, ovipositing, which the NC State ref on the info page suggests is done beneath the bark (of a, here, dead honeysuckle twig) which further suggests that the lighter 'trail' behind is -ah- spackle over the wound in the bark. By the next morning the trail was less than 1 cm long with width and height of less than 1 mm.
