Fire-colored Beetle - Dendroides canadensis - female

Fire-colored Beetle - Dendroides canadensis - Female
Parkwood, Durham County, North Carolina, USA
September 12, 2005
Size: 11 mm
Found at my porch light, captured and posed. Identification based on Dillon (1) and other images in the guide. Looking at regional checklists, and descriptions (see guide page for genus), this is possibly D. canadensis (syn. D. bicolor?). Appears to be a female--the fringe on the antennae are not as prominent as in some other photos.

See comments on other image for specific ID.
