Found at porch lights.

Hypoprepia fucosa or H. miniata ?

I would appreciate any comments on the ID of this specimen.

Hypoprepia fucosa
This cannot be f. miniata b/c the forewing ground must be entirely red in order to be that one--at least according to the Hypoprepia fucosa BG info page

I think you're right Nina
I had several of both species at the porch lights this year, and this is the first one that confused me. All the others were clearly fucosa or miniata, but this one had me a bit puzzled.
The forewing ground color seemed to have more of a reddish hue and I did see some miniata images online that were not all red. Also, the hindwing looked more like miniata, reddish, with a broader dark border. Unfortunately, there are not a lot of photos online of these species that show the hindwing.
However, after reviewing the ID characteristics of these two species again, I agree that this is H. fucosa.
Thanks for straightening this out Nina. :~)

I saw the same thing...
I think that some of the ones in F. miniata may be placed incorrectly, at least based upon the info on the species... your thoughts?
