Horntail - Tremex columba - female

Horntail - Tremex columba - Female
Antietam National Battlefield, Maryland, USA
August 25, 2009
Size: 3.3 cm w/out ovipositor
Found ovipositing on standing dead hackberry tree (Celtis occidentalis). I thought it could be Tremex columba, but was not sure. It seems that the wings are much darker and the abdomen seems much more pale and less patterned. Any help is appreciated!
