Grammia nevadensis

Grammia nevadensis
Prescott, Yavapai County, Arizona, USA
September 21, 2005

Tiger Moth
I posted to another page on Catocala neogama; Apantesis phalerata; grammia parthenice (this pattern is sharper clear than nevadensis, but not reddish, black-yellow body; or gypsy moth. These were photographed in Aug 2008, Fairfield, Solano Co, CA in annual migration southbound.

Moved
Moved from Grammia geneura. All-leps list geneura as a subspecies of nevadensis so we moved it here.

Moved
Moved from Grammia.

Looks Like 8180 - Grammia geneura
... based on photos from Bruce Walsh's Moths of Southeastern Arizona shown on this MPG Western Arctiids Plate. Follow the links to his site for larger photos.

Thanks Michelle, Bob and Bruce too
I poked-around the links a little and liked what I saw. This should be a nice addition to the BugGuide collection. Moved to Grammia page.

Genus Apantesis
This moth is very closely related to the Ornate Tiger Moth and is in the same genus (Apantesis)

Nice photo!
