Leaffooted bug. Acanthocephala sp. - Acanthocephala terminalis

Leaffooted bug. Acanthocephala sp. - Acanthocephala terminalis
Martinsville, Henry County, Virginia, USA
August 26, 2009
Seemed to be enjoying the bird poo on the wingstem leaf(Verbesina occidentalis )

Moved
Moved from Acanthocephala.

Must be terminalis north of NC.

I took a picture
of an A. terminalis on Redbud yesterday--it was engaging in the same behaviour. It was enjoying its meal so much that I got right up in its face and it flinched but didn't move. Bird droppings must be a delicacy!
