Ovipositing?
In the picture where her abdomen is cruved down, I'd say that she is sliceing the leaf and laying her eggs. Thats mybest guess...i dont know orthoptera very well.

Thanks Andy, that makes sense.
I went back out a little later and she was gone, but the male was still on the plant.
