Shadow Darner - Aeshna umbrosa - male

Shadow Darner - Aeshna umbrosa - Male
Everett, Snohomish County, Washington, USA
August 29, 2009
Scores of these were patrolling an artificial wetland built to clean rainwater from the freeway. Looks like a Paddle-Tail, Shadow or Variable, but I'm not sure how to distinguish. I was impressed by their size, but as usual didn't think to estimate it. More resolution: Shadow Darner
