Unknown Crab Spider - Misumenops

Unknown Crab Spider - Misumenops
Montrose, Laurens County, Georgia, USA
August 29, 2009
Size: approx. 7mm
Found in crepe-myrtle in the early evening. Looks very close to misumena vatia, Golden Rod Crab, however, there are significant differences from those illustrated here. Could this be a color-morph of the Golden Rod?

This looks more like the genus
Misumenops to us, but we don't yet know how to tell the species apart.

John and Jane,
Thanks for the quick reply. I had somewhat the same inclination, but, not being an expert by any means, I had to go with the closest visual match. I have other shots (mostly record shots from different angles) of the same animal if that would help. I will keep an eye out for her as she ages and see what kind of egg sac she produces. Maybe the changes will give a better clue.

Jon
