Beaver Brook Association, Hollis, New Hampshire, USA
March 14, 2009
Kinda early for a grasshopper, don't you think? The place was still covered in snow!

Moved
Moved from Grasshoppers.

Chortophaga viridifasciata
nymph, next to last instar. These overwinter as nymphs, so it's not unusual to see them this size in March. Adults come soon after.
