Size: ~7 cm
Lone individual alighted on tree leaf along woodland edge. (Sorry for the flash effects of harsh reflection and shadow; true color is all black.)

This is definately a female p
This is definately a female pelecinid wasp (Pelecinus polyturator) this is the only species of Pelecinid in North America.
