Grasshopper of some kind - Hadrotettix trifasciatus - Female
West Plains, Oregon County, Missouri, USA
July 31, 2005
I can't figure out what kind of grasshopper this is...I have posted three other pictures of it/

Moved from Spharagemon.

Hadrotettix
Hi, This is Hadrotettix trifasciatus. I didn't realise it was found in Missouri, but checking records shows that it indeed is. One of the really cool things about this one is the deep blue inside of the hind femur contrasted with the bright red of the hind tibia. The sharp-edged diaganal band across the hind femur, the sharp bands across the front wings, the long black antennae, and the robustness are all clues to the identity.

Linking
You can link the images together by tagging them all, then clicking link. For more details, see Images under the Help tab.

Grasshopper
This looks to me like it belongs to Subfamily Oedipodinae - Band-winged Grasshoppers. I can't ID it much further, considering I have not learned much about grasshoppers yet and many grasshoppers are very variable. Maybe one of the more experienced users will be able to ID it closer.

Spharagemon sp. female.
Please see my comments on one of the other images. Please, submitters, if more than one image of the same specimens is submitted, SAY SO (i.e. "1 of 3")! I hate commenting on one image only to find someone else has done so on another image. Wastes my time. Images get separated as others load their images and page breaks occur, etc. Thank you.
