Well... something in Hymenoptera - Myzinum - male

Well... something in Hymenoptera - Myzinum - Male
Powell Gardens, near Kansas City, Johnson County, Missouri, USA
September 6, 2009
Size: around 13 mm
This one has me a bit confused- I'm pretty weak with Hymenoptera to begin with, but something about this guy seems off for most wasps I've seen- Really long, with the sting (?) showing pretty predominately... any thoughts? Thanks...

EDIT: Maybe Myzin*um?

Females are not so slender ...

Correct genus and gender...
Species are essentially impossible to ID from images alone. Even actual specimens are difficult.
