Hover fly or wasp?

Hover fly or wasp?
Jim Thorpe, PA 18229, Carbon County, Pennsylvania, USA
September 24, 2005
Size: 1/4 inch approx
This is similar to what my daughter caught and was stung by except the one she caught was about 1/2 as big (see my forum question) and the abdomen was more rounded-not-sort of flat like this.

Jo

I thought so-but I wanted to

Thanks

Jo

Syrphinae
