Red Spotted Purple? White Admiral? - Limenitis arthemis - male

Red Spotted Purple? White Admiral? - Limenitis arthemis - Male
Perry County, South Central Pa County, Pennsylvania, USA
September 8, 2009
I'm thinking Red Spotted Purple, but in my book the butterfly does not have the large white spots half way over on the forewings so I thought I needed to check with experts here. :-) The more I look at this, could it be a White Admiral? Definitely need help with this one. Thanks!

So this is a combo of both?
So this is a combo of both? I've seen Red Spotted Purples in my area, but have not seen a White Admiral... yet. ;-) If this fella/gal is a product of both, then there has to be some White Admirals near that I have to attract to see. Cool. :-)
