An insect like this one stung a co-worker requiring ER treatment. (We found this one already dead.) Any assistance in identification would be appreciated.

Not a stinger!
This is NOT the insect responsible for your co-worker's experience (and I do wish them well). The "stinger" is an egg-laying organ called an "ovipositor," in this case one belonging to the female of a katydid-like insect called the "Carolina leaf-roller." They are completely harmless to people, pets, other organisms in general. It is a unique and seldom-seen creature, though. More information is here.

Thanks so much! I really appreciate your help. I'll pass this on and let him know the mystery continues. He had a severe reaction to a sting and felt certain this little lady was a look-a-like.
