Banasa dimiata - nymph - Banasa dimiata

Banasa dimiata - nymph - Banasa dimiata
Douglas County, Oregon, USA
June 18, 2009
Size: approx 5.5mm
Found a mess of these nymphs on this cherry. Several scurried off when I moved a branch to get a better view. They were about half the size of adults I found later. Second image includes partial underside views.

Banasa dimidiata, definitely adults

not nymphs
the fully developed wings say these are adults

Interesting.
I didn't know adults come in various sizes. These were definitely about half the size of other adults I've seen. I guess it's like with humans - the adult human male average is about 5'10" tall, yet I stand 6'7".
