Fleahopper - Opsiplanon luella

Fleahopper - Opsiplanon luella
Mobile (Dog River), Mobile County, Alabama, USA
Size: ~1mm
This is the smallest planthopper I've seen. Should I say "knowingly" seen. Please advise. Thanks

Fulgoroid?
I think this may be something other than a cicadellid. I'm quite positive in fact. Andy Hamilton will know more....

Opsiplanon luella
The smallest of our Achilidae never gets much below 4 mm, but this one gets down to 3.2 mm, and its sloping thorax makes it look still smaller. But "less than 1 mm" is surely an exaggeration!

Incidentally, this is a new state record. It was previously known only from FL, GA. TX and KS.

Cannot Wait
To learn more about this phenomenon. Especially since I found this Fulgorid the same night

which does not look anything like this creature. I love bug hunting!
