Grasshopper? - Schistocerca alutacea - male

Grasshopper? - Schistocerca alutacea - Male
West Palm Beach, Palm Beach County, Florida, USA
September 12, 2009

I'm moving him to the S. alutacea page
but I have to qualify it with "while I'm pretty sure, I'm not positive".

Moved from Bird Grasshoppers.

This will be either
Schistocerca alutacea or S. obscura. It's very difficult to be certain which with just this angle. A shot from the side; or, perhaps one showing at least the color of the hind tibiae (spined part of the hind leg) better? I'm leaning toward the S. alutacea, based on the coloring, but I'm not sure.

It is a male for sure.

Moved
Moved from ID Request.

my money goes on Bird Grasshopper - Schistocerca
Of some kind. Do you have a side view?
