I've had a tentative ID from Eric Eaton on this, saying it should be confirmed by one of the fly experts.

Yes!!
To give a short and direct answer!:-))
Greetings,

Thanks
again on another diptera family, Gerard.

Family duplication Cecidiomyiidae/Cecidomyiidae
I noticed we had duplicate diptera families: Cecidiomyiidae and Cecidomyiidae, apparently spelling variations. The latter seems to be the more common spelling, and it had a guide page with some information, so I moved all images to Cecidomyiidae under the Nematocera, and deleted Cecidiomyiidae, which was off by itself under the diptera, not in a suborder. I added a note on the variant spelling for the Cecidomyiidae guide.
