What's it eating?
Although there are some species that eat all kinds of plants, caterpillars are usually specific enough about what they eat that you can narrow down the possibilities by knowing the host plant.

It's hard to ID the plant from this picture, but it looks like something in the Carrot Family, Apiaceae (aka Umbelliferae)
