1" Spider Black Yellow And Some Orange New Hampshire - Argiope aurantia - Female
New Hampshire, USA
September 28, 2005
Size: 1 Inch
This is one of two spiders of the same breed visiting us lately. The one that is in our basement has a round web. Part of that web has a zig-zag pattern like you would see if someone mended something that tore. The one by our front door is using part of the web from another spider who has long since dissapeared. They aren't shy but if desturbed will retreat. Thanks!

As featured in E.B. Whites children's classic Charlotte's Web.

Frass
I am going to move this to frass since the image is not zoomed close enough to the spider. Keep submitting!

Black & Yellow Argiope
Im almost positive this is a black&yellow argiope (Argiope aurantia). im also gonna hazard a guess na dsay this is an adult female. The guide is chocked full of images of them. Theyre a gorgeous creature, and completely harmless, aand amzing at keeping down populations of pesky bugs in your yard so treat them with respect and care :)

Black & White Argiope
Yes they are very pretty. My picture I submitted does not do it justice. I have some closer images that are great. The spider likes a spot next to our front door. One morning I had to move him/her because it was on the sliding door screen and if it got closed it would have died. I put the spider back in it's "spot" and it has been there ever since. It hardly moves! I would be so bored. The one hanging in our bulkhead has been pretty busy catching it's prey and has a very nice complex web unlike the spider next to our door who hasn't even bothered to weave a web! It took over the web of I believe a wolf spider and is using that for itself.
I know their life span isn't very long but we are enjoying them while they are here. They are being treated with tlc. Thanks for your help!

argiope
hi! i am new here, we have an argiope male and female living in our garden on our canna plants right in front of our office window, the male is gone, so far we have seen the female remake her web early in the morning and eating a grasshopper. we have been amazed and have loved the experience! i will try to post some pictures.
