Flower-top drama - for Ron H - Misumenops

Flower-top drama - for Ron H - Misumenops
Elkton, Douglas County, Oregon, USA
June 22, 2009
I watched this ant and spider dance around with the fly on the daisy head for about 5 minutes. Because of the hair, I'd say the spider is Misumenops. I know nothing about ants, so I'll just guess that the ant is an ant. As for the fly, I'd say it's dead. I came back about an hour and change later. The ant and the fly were gone, and the spider ran away as I was focusing in on the little lady who lost her dinner - I think she was embarrassed.

Thanks, Phil. Boy, does that ant look determined!
Wonderful photo of one long assembly. You might want to post the ant photo separately; bet it gets an ID.
