Size: ~5mm
This photos shows the amount of debris that I gently pulled off of the larva. Once I put him back into his jar, it was less than 5 minutes that he located his ball of fuzz and added it onto his back again. He is very insistant on having his protective ball!

Carol, yes, I've added 'after' photos, so you can see how his junk pile looks on his back which he rebuilt after i removed most of it.

I've never seen a lacewing larvae with all the junk. Thanks for posting those photos.
